We have a small, dedicated choir, a gifted accompanist, children sho want to sing, and a congregation who loves music.  About half of us are GLTB, one-fourth are African American, some are Asian-American, and we are all ages.  We enjoy a wide range of music from classical to world music.  Having sold our building 5 years ago, we are a congregation on a journey, planning for a new home on N. JOB DESCRIPTION

This is a 10 month, quarter time salaried position.  With the pastor, accompanist and designated congregational members, plan and develop an intergenerational music program for the church.  Collaborate with Sunday School teachers for children’s involvement.

Lead the choir in the preparation and performance of anthems and other choral music to support the worship service.

Choose music that covers a wide range of styles including African-American traditional, European traditional, world music, contemplative music, nonchurch music that highlights Christian values, all in the service of enhancing a deep worship expereince.

Encourage and guide instrumentalists and musical gifts from the congregation; arrange for additional musicians as necessary.

Lead, encourage, and develop congregational singing.

Oversee the church music library and the acquisition of new choral music wihtin the parameters set by the budget.

Work with Board and pastor to determine budget requests for the music program.
